Kristina Stella wurde in Dresden geboren. Sie studierte wissenschaftliches Bibliothekswesen und war zunächst an der Universitätsbibliothek der TU Dresden, später beim DDR-Fernsehen tätig. In der Wendezeit verließ sie ihre Heimatstadt und trat eine neue Stelle an der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt am Main an. Bereits zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre begann Kristina Stella mit ihren Forschungen zu Brigitte Reimann, die sie später auf Siegfried Pitschmann und weitere Schriftsteller und Künstler in Reimanns Umfeld erweiterte. Stella verfasste eine zweibändige Brigitte-Reimann-Bibliografie (2014). Sie gab außerdem mehrere Briefwechsel Reimanns heraus und die bislang unveröffentlichten Romane „Die Denunziantin“ von Brigitte Reimann (2022) sowie „Erziehung eines Helden“ von Siegfried Pitschmann (2015), die auf breites Interesse stießen. Stellas Forschungen stützen sich vor allem auf Originalquellen wie Briefe, Tagebücher, Manuskripte und historische Dokumente. Heute lebt und arbeitet Kristina Stella als freiberufliche Publizistin in Kronberg im Taunus.
Kristina Stella befindet sich derzeit in einer unfreiwilligen privaten Auszeit, deren Dramatik die letzten Lebensjahre Brigitte Reimanns aufzunehmen scheint. Da dies abrupt und ohne jegliche Vorwarnung geschah, blieb keine Zeit, all jenen Freunden und Weggefährten Bescheid zu geben, die über Jahrzehnte hinweg zu den treuen Begleitern und Unterstützern ihrer Forschungsarbeit gehören. Sobald es möglich sein wird, wird Kristina Stella die Arbeit an ihrem Forschungsthema wieder aufnehmen und mit neuer Kraft fortführen.
Kristina Stella was born in Dresden. She studied Library Science and initially worked at the University Library of the TU Dresden, later joining the DDR Television. During the period of German reunification, she left her hometown and took a new position at the German National Library in Frankfurt am Main. As early as the beginning of the 1990s, Kristina Stella began researching Brigitte Reimann, later expanding her focus to include Siegfried Pitschmann and other writers and artists within Reimann’s circle. Stella authored a two-volume bibliography of Brigitte Reimann (2014). She also edited several of Reimann’s letters and published the previously unreleased novels „Die Denunziantin” by Brigitte Reimann (2022) and „Erziehung eines Helden” by Siegfried Pitschmann (2015), which attracted wide interest. Stella’s research is primarily based on original sources such as letters, diaries, manuscripts, and historical documents. Today, Kristina Stella lives and works as a freelance writer in Kronberg im Taunus.
Kristina Stella is currently on an involuntary private leave of absence, the dramatic nature of which seems to echo the final years of Brigitte Reimann’s life. As this situation arose suddenly and without any warning, there was no opportunity to inform the many friends and companions who, over the course of decades, have been loyal supporters of her research. As soon as circumstances permit, Kristina Stella will resume her work on this field of research and continue it with renewed strength and dedication.
